Innovative Educational Space of the CDTO Campus Open in Kyiv

On June 28, the official opening of the CDTO Campus space has taken place. During the event, the team of the Ministryof Digital Transformation and the project has told the partners and guestsabout the first results and the following plans of the CDTO Campus.

Since now, the students of the CDTO Campus are going to attend offline lectures at the modern space containing everything required for productive acquirement of new knowledge, development of partner relations and efficient communication.

“Ukraine has become one of the first countries to introduce the CDTO position. Currently, 55 Chief Digital Transformation Officers are working at various government institutions in Ukraine, but we need to prepare over 1,500such specialists for implementation of digital changes at the local level. Therefore, we have created the CDTO Campus, the place where future digital transformation leaders are growing up. Opening an offline space is going to allow us the prepare qualified personnel able to implement changes all over the country,” Mykhailo Fedorov, the Vice Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science and Technologies — Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, has emphasized.

The team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and its partners has presented the CDTO Campus in November 2023, but the project has already achieved significant results:

— over 200 alumni have successfully completed studying according to the following five educational programs:

  • AI HOUSE: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
  • Cisco: Implementation of Safe Digital Platforms
  • EU4DigitalUA: Personal Data Protection
  • OSCE: Formation and Implementation of Open Data Policy
  • Tolocar: Immersive Days of Open Design

— currently two programs are in progress:

  • Digital Transformation in Public Administration
  • UNDP: Leadership Programme for Women Involved in Digitalisation of Public Services

“Digital transformation is impossible without the specialists actively participating in digitalization processes and implementing new digital solutions at the local level. To help them develop, we have created the CDTO Campus, where we have united newbies and experienced state officials for the purpose of studying and exchanging ideas. Within the first six months, we have received over 1,100 applications for participation. Opening a modern space for the CDTO Campus is going to provide every student an opportunity to study innovative approaches and change the approaches to management in the state sector,” Valeriya Ionan, Deputy Minister for Euro integration at the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, has mentioned.

During the event, the new long-term program for support and development of digital leaders in the communities, who are going to become the drivers of regional digitalization, has been presented.

“The CDTO Campus is going to become a catalyzer of innovations and cooperation, uniting experts from Ukraine and from all over the world. This place is going to support experience exchange and skill development, helping Ukraine to reach new summits in digital transformation,” Daniel Busche, the director of the GIZ office in Ukraine, has mentioned.

Another piece of news has been the completion of selection of student sin terms of the Creating the Digital Future leadership program. These studies are for the experienced specialists in the digitalization area that is going to help them improve their professional and leadership skills. Within the framework of the course, the students are going to attend the intensive course at McCourt School of Public Policy under Georgetown University in Washington, the USA.

“To create the most convenient state in the world without any queues, bureaucracy and corruption, Ukraine needs digital transformation leaders. We share the ambitions of the Ministry of Digital Transformation to prepare 1,500 CDTOs to implement reforms both at the national and regional levels. As far as there are no universities systematically preparing such specialists in Ukraine, we have supported the opening of the CDTO Campus together with our international partners and are going to work over its corresponding to its purpose,” Victor Lyakh, the President of the East Europe Foundation, has mentioned.
